Hopkinsville Electric System (HES) has been notified by multiple customers that they have received a phone call from a person claiming to represent HES, demanding an immediate payment to keep from having their power turned off. These calls ARE NOT from HES.
HES only contacts our customers a few ways. First, we mail your monthly bill to you. Second, if you have not paid your bill by the bill due date, you will receive an automated phone call from us with a prerecorded message reminding you of your past due status. Third, if you have called us with a question and we need time to research your issue, we will typically take your name and phone number and call you back when we have the answer. And finally, since we are now processing all requests for service activation, transfer or cancellation online, once you have sent your request to us, we will call you back to discuss your request and complete the final details.
We DO NOT place calls to customers demanding any payments. If you receive this call, hang up. Then call us directly at 887-4200 to inform us. We will immediately activate our website alert notification bar so that all customers are aware of the scam.
