In an effort to fight Covid-19, the TVA EnergyRight program is offering local businesses and industries an incentive to install UVGI technology in HVAC duct systems. UVGI, or Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation, has been around since the 1930’s and is a known method to inactivate airborne microorganisms. By installing UVGI in the supply duct of an HVAC system, all conditioned air entering the building can be sanitized, providing a cleaner, safer indoor environment. UVGI has been in use in hospitals and health clinics for quite some time. UVGI can now be installed in other businesses to provide a safer environment for employees and customers alike.
The TVA EnergyRight program is now offering an incentive of $30 per ton toward the purchase and installation of UVGI in your business’s HVAC ductwork system. Before installing the UVGI apparatus, it is important to review the EnergyRight guidelines to qualify for the incentive. It is also necessary to utilize a member of the TVA Preferred Partners Network to perform the work. These contractors have been trained by TVA and understand the quality standards required by TVA for the installation.
