Hopkinsville, KY Strives to Become Next Gig City with Fiber Upgrade

Today the Institute for Self Reliance’s Community Networks published an article featuring energynet’s work to make Hopkinsville, Kentucky the next gig city.  In the full article, energynet is spotlighted for our efforts to bring our new fiber internet service to homes throughout Hopkinsville.

The news feature explains “In Hopkinsville, Kentucky, “the idea that [Internet] connectivity is a luxury” will soon be a relic of the past. The city’s municipal electric provider, Hopkinsville Electric System (HES), is currently working through its Internet service, EnergyNet, to bring Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) to all premises.”

The spotlight goes on to detail our plans to bring the network to homes across Hopkinsville one neighborhood at a time, highlighting our goenergynet.com resource for those interested in the fiber internet service with speeds up to 1 gig.

The article also details a bit more about why we’re speeding toward this future for Hopkinsville.  Read the full feature.
