  • TVA Covid-19 Resource Guide for Business Reopenings

    Thumbnail Placeholder

As our country begins to work towards reopening, it is important for businesses and industries to take the proper precautions to protect both employees and customers. To assist with this process, TVA has produced an online guide for businesses and industries throughout the Tennessee Valley.

The information includes general restart guidelines, as well as industry-specific guidelines for schools, restaurants, retailers, places of worship and public assembly spaces. In addition, there are useful links to the websites of the CDC, U.S. Small Business Administration, and others.

  • Avoiding Utility Bill Scammers

    Thumbnail Placeholder

During difficult times, it is not uncommon for scammers to use the situation to scam innocent people out of money. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Hopkinsville Electric System (HES) has been notified by customers that they have received a phone call from a person claiming to represent HES, demanding an immediate payment to keep from having their power turned off. These calls ARE NOT from HES.

HES only contacts our customers a few ways. First, we mail your monthly bill to you. Second, if you have not paid your bill by the bill due date, you will receive an automated phone call from us with a prerecorded message reminding you of your past due status. Third, if you are on our Pay As You Go Service, you will receive text and email alerts if your account balance runs low. Finally, if you have called us with a question, or are making changes to your account by phone and we need time to research your issue, we will typically take your name and phone number and call you back when we have the answer.

We DO NOT place calls to customers demanding any payments. If you receive this type of call, hang up. Then call us directly at 887-4200 to inform us. We will immediately activate our website alert notification bar so that all customers are aware of the scam.

    IMPORTANT UPDATE (5/13/20):

HES has been informed by TVA that scammers have recently been calling customers of TVA electric distributors (such as HES) and posing as TVA representatives threatening disconnection of power unless a past due bill is paid immediately.  TVA does not make these types of phone calls. If you receive such a call, please hang up and call 887-4200 to report the call to us.
