Hopkinsville Electric System purchases its power from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a federally created and owned entity. TVA provides power for 153 local power companies in 7 states, serving approximately 9 million people.
TVA not only provides power to this large area, but also serves as the regulator for the utilities purchasing its power. All pricing for electric services provided by HES must be approved by TVA. In addition, TVA prescribes many of the business practices that must be followed by HES. The HES Schedule of Rules and Regulations are reviewed and approved by TVA and are available to HES customers.
